Council Meetings Return to Library
The Seminole City Council, which has been conducting its meetings at the Reynolds Wellness Center, will return to the Seminole Public Library for this month’s regular meeting.
The council is slated to meet Tuesday, May at 7 p.m. in the Goldie Barnett Conference Room of the library, which for decades has been the venue for council meetings. Meetings were conducted virtually for much of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but when in-person meetings resumed in January, they were moved to the Wellness Center to allow for social distancing.
Tuesday’s meeting agenda includes possible action on an ordinance to rezone 611 and 815 West Broadway from C-3 Commercial District to I-1 Light Industrial. The council will also discuss a possible ordinance regarding public medical marijuana events within the city.
The council will also consider the approval of a new agreement with the Seminole County Jail for inmate housing. Incarceration costs have risen from $32.68 per day to $67.54 per day.
Other agenda items include discussion and possible action on the closure of portions of Main Street on May 15 for the Downtown District Car Show.
Meetings of the Utilities, Gas and Airport Authorities will take place before the council meeting. All meetings of the city council and related authorities are open to the public. Comments from the public are welcome at specific times during the course of the meetings.
