Convicted Felon Arrested on Forgery Charges
A convicted felon is facing new charges after he allegedly tried to pass a check with a forged signature on it at a local bank earlier this year.
Justin Paul Hook, 33, of Holdenville was arrested June 28 and has been charged with a felony count of second-degree forgery. The charges were filed July 2 in Seminole County District Court.
The filing document alleges that on or about March 24, Hook attempted to cash a check in the amount of $1,150 at First United Bank in Wewoka and the signer’s name was “forged and counterfeited.” The document further alleges that Hook attempted to pass the check with “the willful and fraudulent intent to cheat, wrong and defraud.”
According to supplemental information filed by the District Attorney’s Office, Hook was previously convicted in Hughes County on two counts of second-degree burglary, one count of receiving/possessing stolen property and one count false declaration of ownership in pawn. Hook received two seven-year sentences on the burglary charges, and five years each on the pawn and stolen property charges. He was incarcerated from April 2016 to November 2017, according to the Oklahoma Department of Corrections.
Court records indicate Hook is due back in court on July 29 for a status conference.
