City Reminds Citizens to Bag Trash Before Placing in Cart

Posted in:

The City of Seminole reminds citizens that unbagged trash gets blown away in the wind.

Officials say this is just part of the problem with litter, not only in Seminole, but across America.

“When people throw unbagged trash into polycarts, the unbagged trash will fly away in the wind if the carts are tipped over by wind or emptied by Waste Corporation of America (WCA),” the city stated in a press release.

“No one can control the wind and how it blows trash around... not us, not WCA, and not the citizens of Seminole. A couple of ways we can help avoid this is by making sure all trash is in bags, and making sure polycart lids are closed. The next time you see loose trash make sure it gets bagged before getting thrown in a polycart. There may be other issues, but we believe if everyone does their part to help out, we can work together to make Seminole brighter.”

The city is organizing a community clean up week from April 17th — April 24th to clean up Seminole and celebrate Earth Day. In the meantime, they will be sharing some tips and tricks to help keep Seminole clean. Sign up to volunteer for the community clean up by visiting https://www.seminole-oklahoma.net/community-clean-up.

If you have a problem with trash being picked up in your area, please call the water department so they can help you. You can also use “Citizen Problem Reporter” to report other problems including litter and debris, which can be accessed from the city’s website.
