City of Konawa to Fill Open Seat on Council

Posted in:

The City of Konawa is seeking to fill a city council seat by appointment following the resignation of Ward Four Councilor Shelley Heinrich-Brown.

Brown recently tendered her resignation but did not elaborate as to why she stepped down. “Yes, I have resigned. I have no comment,” she said on Tuesday.

City officials say they will fill the vacancy by appointing someone to the council rather than by having a special election.

Anyone interested in serving should submit a letter of interest to city hall by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 7. The letter will be given to current council members for consideration at the city council meeting slated for 6:30 p.m. on April 8 at the Community Center.

The city is also looking for a full-time city manager. Brett Wade was recently appointed as interim city manager following the resignation of Tim Coffey. Applications for that position are being accepted until April 15.

Konawa City Hall is located at 122 N. Broadway. Call (580) 925-3775 for more information.
