Chamber Forum Speaker Tests Positive for COVID-19
Information has surfaced that the March 12 speaker for the Seminole Chamber of Commerce monthly forum luncheon has tested positive for COVID-19.
The speaker’s doctor has said he contracted the virus after the forum, at an event two days later. According to city officials, the forum followed the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines for public gatherings, including limiting the forum to no more than 50 people.
Only one person was reportedly in close contact with the speaker during that time, and they have since been put into self-quarantine and are not showing any symptoms. It should be noted that the speaker, who lives out of the county, was only in Seminole for a short time. The speaker is currently recovering from the illness in quarantine.
All attendees of the March forum received an email Monday morning alerting them to the positive test of the speaker.
April’s Chamber of Commerce forum has already been canceled.
