Celebrity Coaches and Teams Announced for PBR
Ahead of the first-ever PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Bulls Gone Wild bullfighting spectacular, the league has announced the celebrity coaches who will helm the two, seven-man teams for the uniquely formatted event, in addition to their competing rosters. Six-Time PBR World Finals and 2020 PRCA Bullfighter of the Year Cody Webster (Wayne, Oklahoma) will lead Team Red, while twotime PBR World Finals qualifier Ezekiel Mitchell (Rockdale, Texas) will pilot Team Platinum.
This new, specially formatted PBR Bulls Gone Wild, scheduled for Friday, June 4 at 10:30 p.m. CDT at Cowtown Coliseum, is a bullfighting extravaganza that brings together celebrity guest stars, the world’s best freestyle bullfighters, and hilarious game show challenges in-front of a live audience. The blend of latenight comedic antics and dazzling feats of athleticism is billed to be unlike anything fans have ever seen.
Throughout the evening, Team Red and Team Platinum will compete across eight games, culminating with a 60-second freestyle bullfighting competition. In the initial seven games, two bullfighters from each team will go head-to-head in a predetermined game, with the winner walking away with one point.
Those thrilling initial contests will include Torro Football, where the competing bullfighters attempt to guide a Spanish fighting bull through a pair of cones, and Jenga, when the contending bullfighters see who can assemble the tallest foam block tower while protecting it from being knocked down by the fighting bull in the arena.
Following the first seven games, one bullfighter from each team will be selected to compete in the final contest – a 60-second freestyle bullfighting competition worth two points. The audience will select the winner of the contest, and ultimately the PBR Bulls Gone Wild Champion, through their applause for their preferred bullfighter.
Webster has mounted an impressive career as both a cowboy protection and freestyle bullfighter.
In addition to helping keep the world’s top bull riders on the premier PBR Unleash The Beast safe, the Oklahoman is also a seven-time Wrangler National Finals Rodeo bullfighter, and three-time PBR Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour Finals bullfighter and California Rodeo Salinas Freestyle Bullfighting Champion.
Webster, who also frequently runs schools to educate the next generation, can often be seen on CBS Sports, bringing viewers his unique, from-the-dirt analysis of the outs made by the world’s best bull riders while performing his job as a US Border Patrol protective bull fighter.
Under Webster’s leadership, Team Red will include: Tucker Lane (Grove, Missouri), Dekevis Jordan (Madill, Oklahoma), Noah Krepps (Jasper, Arkansas), Alex McWilliams (Paso Robles, California), Clay Moore (Belen, New Mexico), Colton Orcutt (Kersey, Colorado) and Justin Josey (Apache, Oklahoma).
On this deep roster, Josey is the reigning Ultimate Bullfighters World Finals event champion, McWilliams is the 2019 AFB World Champion, and Krepps is a two-time ABF Vegas Champion and ABF Freestyle World Champion.
As one of bull riding’s fast-rising PBR World Champion contenders, Mitchell’s skyrocketing stardom was recently documented by the popular Snapchat docuseries, “Life By The Horns.”
Having initially taught himself the basics of the sport from studying YouTube videos, Mitchell has since finished inside the Top 20 of PBR’s world standings in back-to-back seasons, No. 15 in 2019 and No. 18 in 2020. In 2021, Mitchell delivered the high-marked ride of his career, scored 93 points on two-time and reigning YETI World Champion Bull Smooth Operator in January. Currently, he is inside the world’s Top 30, ranked No. 27. Guided by Mitchell, the
Team Platinum bullfighters are: Chance Moorman (Lytle, Texas), Knox Dunn (Slaughter, Louisiana), Chase Blythe (Concord, North Carolina), Maxime Turgeon (Quebec City, Quebec, Canada), Colby Lindsay (Calvert City, Kentucky) Trenton Ross (Jackson, Wyoming), and a TBC bullfighter.
Among the numerous titles held by the contingent of talented freestyle bullfighters, Moorman is not only the reigning UBF World Champion, but himself, and Dunn are currently the Top 2 ranked bullfighters in the race for the 2021 UBF World Championship.
