A police chase involving a car with drugs and stolen electronics inside ended with a crash and one arrest near Sportsman Lake Saturday afternoon.

Edward Watkins, 43, of Pryor, was arrested after he and his passenger, whose name was unavailable as of press time, allegedly stole electronic gear from Walmart then led authorities on a chase that covered residential areas in Seminole. The pursuit came to an end on EW1230 when

Watkins reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to flip then come to rest right side up.

Watkins was arrested at the scene and the passenger was medi-flighted to a hospital. According to Seminole Police Chief Jon Withers, the passenger was expected to be arrested upon his hospital release.

Charges against Watkins at the time of his arrest include grand larceny, eluding a police officer, possession of a controlled substance, willfully avoiding a roadblock and miscellaneous traffic violations.

Authorities discovered electronic items valued at approximately $2,000 as well as drugs and paraphernalia inside the car. The electronics were reported as stolen by Walmart employees.

Police say Watkins initially headed east down Highway 9 then made his way back to Seminole. The chase wound through several residential streets, including Strother, Coolidge and John Street.

Multiple agencies were involved in the pursuit, including the Seminole Police Department, the Seminole Nation Lighthorse Police Department and the Seminole County Sheriff’s Department.

Court records indicate Watkins has a lengthy rap sheet dating back to 1998. His past charges include assault and battery, possession of marijuana, driving with a revoked license, failure to comply with insurance laws and transporting an open container.
