Candidate Filing Period For Seminole Nation to Open Monday, April 19
The Seminole Nation of Oklahoma General Election for the offices of Principal Chief, Assistant Chief, and Council Members is Saturday, July 10, 2021.
The candidacy filing period opens at 8 a.m. April 19 and closes April 23 at 5 p.m. in the Election Board Office located at Mekusukey Mission. The telephone number for the Election Office is 405-652-0195.
Sasakwa, Strother, Mekusukey Mission, Shawnee, and Oklahoma City are the polling locations. Polls will open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. A Tribal enrollment card or a government photo identification document is required to vote. Voters may vote at any polling location.
Polling location worker applications and requests for absentee ballots will be available online under the Seminole Nation website under the Election Board tab on April 19, 2021. Or these documents can be picked up at the Election Board Office. The office is open by appointment only.
August 7, 2021 is the date for the Run-Off Election if it becomes necessary.
All Tribal members are encouraged to participate in this important event. To be eligible to vote, individuals must be a Tribal member and at least eighteen years of age.
