OFF BROADWAY
I-235 ramps to close, lanes narrow at I-44 Saturday morning; I-235 lanes shifting to new configuration by Saturday evening
The following closures will impact the I-235/I-44 interchange from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in order to shift southbound I-235/US-77 lanes to the east onto new pavement. This shift will make room for ongoing construction to continue for new I-235 bridges over I-44. Motorists should plan ahead to use their Off-Broadway alternate routes of I-35, I-44, SH-74/Lake Hefner Parkway, M.L. King Ave., N. Lincoln Blvd. during the closures and avoid the area.
Closing from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Westbound I-44 ramp to southbound I-235;
Southbound I-235 ramp to eastbound I-44;
Southbound I-235 on-ramp from N. 63rd St.; and Southbound and northbound I-235/US-77 both will be narrowed to one lane in each direction between N. 50th St. and N. 63rd St.
When the ramps and lanes open Saturday evening, motorists should be alert to the lane shift and slight changes to ramps within the work zone. They should expect delays and congestion or use their Off-Broadway alternate routes to avoid the area while traffic adjusts to the new lane configuration.
Northbound and southbound I-235/US-77 will remain narrowed to two lanes in each direction between N. 50th St. and N. 63rd St. The work zone will remain narrow and motorists should continue to expect lane shifts and intermittent ramp closures through the remainder of the project, which is tentatively scheduled to complete in fall 2021, weather permitting.
