Bowlegs School Goes On Lockdown Over Possible Gun Threat
On what was supposed to be the final day of classes for Bowlegs students, the school was placed on lockdown over a reported gun threat.
Parents and students were reportedly gathered for an assembly in the auditorium Thursday when the lockdown was ordered. The assembly reportedly went ahead as planned when the lockdown was lifted.
At around noon, police radio indicated that three armed suspects were on school grounds. According to police radio reports, one suspect was in the school office and two others were in the parking lot.
A witness who was inside the school building reported that at least one suspect had been taken into custody and one person had been tased by authorities. The witness said a handful of parents and students remained in the auditorium during the lockdown and others stayed in classrooms.
Seminole Public Schools was also briefly placed on lockdown during as a precaution.
