BOCC Accepts Bid on Sheriff’s Vehicle, Approves Truck Lease

Posted in:

Much of the Seminole County Board of County Commissioners regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, Aug. 9 was routine business.

The first item that was not routine was the opening of bids for the sale of a 4-door 2018 Ram 1500 pickup 4X4 with 5.7 Hemi. The only bid made had been submitted by the Okfuskee County Sheriff’s Department for $14,755. Seminole County Sheriff Shannon Smith stated that the minimum had been set at $14,500. Following a brief discussion, the Board voted to accept the bid.

During a discussion to approve certificates of compliance for OMMA (Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority) business, District 3 Commissioner Clifton Taylor shared he had seen a news report that stated Seminole County had 1,600 or 1,700 grow permits, commenting he knew there wasn’t that many. After District 1 Commissioner Russell Yott estimated the number was probably closer to 150, Sherriff Smith commented that there were 150 several months ago, so there had to be more than that, although he agrees it was nowhere near 1,600. While the commissioners were reviewing new applications Sheriff Smith checked and reported there were approximately 215, give or take a few.

The commissioners voted to approve the most recent certificates of compliance for OMMA businesses.

Another item that wasn’t routine was a discussion to approve an ODOT Form 324A and lease agreement between the Seminole County Board of County Commissioners and the Oklahoma Department of Transportation for a 2022 International Hx620 truck.

Commissioner Taylor stated that a new window was scheduled to be installed on the truck because the original window was chipped directly in front of the driver. The Commissioners approved the item.

The Commissioners also approved a transcript of proceedings and County resale deeds sold to Jimmy Kiker and another to Slap Corporation. The second deed was being refiled to correct the parcel number.

The Commissioners next conducted a monthly Courthouse basement, storage area, and elevator inspection.

There was no new business before the meeting was adjourned.
