Big Changes Planned For 2021 Farmers Market of Konawa

Posted in:

The Farmers Market of Konawa is poised to open in about two months, and its organizers say they hope to expand it into more of a community market this year.

“After four seasons of operation, the Farmers Market of Konawa is a thriving asset to the community and the vendors that make it all possible. The market is a place where locals can purchase affordable Oklahoma grown and produced products. It’s also a meeting place and popular Sunday morning ritual for people from all over,” said Jenise Ehrhardt, the market’s media director and graphic designer.

“This year we are planning several fun events like contests for the kids and adult kids as well. We’re planning a food truck contest, biggest pepper, biggest watermelon, burger cook off and kids coloring contest. Even the vendors can get in on the contests,” Ehrhardt said.

Organizers are currently seeking vendors for the 2021 season, which will be an open market. “If you can make it, you can sell it at the Farmers Market of Konawa, excluding live animals,” Ehrhardt said.

Open vendor categories include produce, flowers, food, food trucks, arts and crafts, antiques, original art, clothing, jewelry, handmade treasures, home decor, outdoor furnishings and consumable “yummies.” Acoustic sidewalk musicians are also encouraged to take part.

Vendor fees will be waved for the opening month of June. For an application and more details, send an email to FarmersMarketKonawa@ gmail.com or call 888-242-3939.

Opening day is set for June 6 in the 100 block of Broadway. Henry and Ellen Keiner and Voney Ladawn Demaris are the market’s managers.
