Appointments Available For Vaccinations at SSC

Posted in:

The Seminole County Health Department announced yesterday that several appointments were open for its COVID-19 vaccination clinic scheduled for today (Friday, March 26).

The health department will administer the vaccine at a “pod” stationed at the Haney Center on the campuses of Seminole State College.

Appointments are scheduled through the state’s online portal at vaccinate. ok.gov.

Oklahoma is currently in phase three of its vaccination program, but as Monday, March 29, all Oklahomans over the age of 16 will be eligible to receive the vaccine. Phase 3 included essential workers, college students and those who work in educational settings. Those groups account for roughly 2.4 million people.

Phase 4 expands access to a COVID-19 vaccine to about 555,200 residents who were not covered in earlier phases, according to the state’s estimates.

Health officials say Oklahoma has consistently been a leader among other states for vaccine doses administered by population, bolstered by vaccination efforts from tribal nations — several of which have already opened eligibility to anyone, regardless of tribal affiliation or residence — and federal providers like Veterans Affairs.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Health Keith Reed, 1,674,556 doses had been administered in the state as of Tuesday.

While getting vaccinated may protect your family and friends, it’s still important to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by wearing a mask, washing your hands and watching your distance.
