Agencies Partner to Offer Free Conservation Workshop
The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), the Oklahoma Tribal Conservation Advisory Council (OTCAC) and Farm Service Agency (FSA) will partner for a free conservation workshop on Thursday, April 13, 2023.
Join us for a conservation workshop and tour. The workshop will start at 9:00 a.m. at the Logan County Fairgrounds in Guthrie, Oklahoma. The tour will be located in Edmond, Oklahoma at Indigo Acres, owned and operated by Kevin Marshall. He has had eight successful years managing seasonal high tunnels. His presentation will include why healthy soil is important, choosing fresh plants and crops to consider growing, consideration on the seasonal high tunnel design, how to make the best of a four-season growing period, and an overview on a “Market Garden” system for a seasonal high tunnel. We will depart for the tour at 9:30 a.m. and return to the Logan County Fairgrounds for lunch at 12:30 p.m.
The following partners will provide USDA program updates: NRCS, FSA, and National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS). Conservation districts partners from Canadian, Cleveland, Kingfisher, Logan, McClain, and Oklahoma counties will be available to provide updates regarding their state cost share programs.
