Fashionable event which attracted social interest not only in this city but in several neighboring communities was the fourth annual birthday party and guest tea at which members of Chapter CL, P.E.O. entertained in the spacious home of Mrs. W.E. Grisso, north of the city, on Saturday between the hours of 3 and 5 o’clock. Particular prominence was added to the occasion by the presence of several state and national officers who assisted the local officers in receiving.
Mrs. John B. Townes and Mrs. Raymond Harber, past presidents presided at the perfectly appointed table in the dining room. The long table covered with Italian cut work linen had for its central decoration a large 3 tiered white cake ornamented with yellow stars emblematic of the sisterhood’s ritual and topped with four white tapers.
–oOo– The engineering division of the State Highway Department this morning filed formal request for permission to survey a route for 1 proposed highway from
Seminole east to Wetumka. If the request is allowed, the engineering division will start work immediately to survey and recommend a route for the proposed extension of state Highway 9, which will extend it across the state.
–oOo– Mr. and Mrs. Herman Bishop entertained with an attractively appointed dinner and bridge party in their home Saturday evening. Places were laid at a long table spread with an Italian lace cloth and decorated with sprays of redbud and white tapers. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Harber won high score at bridge. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Homer Bishop, Mr. and Mrs. Murl Belford, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Neill Elsey and Mrs. R.T. Harber.
–oOo– Mrs. Pauline Keller Dean and Mrs. W.S. Livingston plan to leave Thursday for Ponca City to attend the State Federation of Music Clubs meeting there. They are delegates from the Seminole Federated Music club. Mrs. Dean will appear on the program.
