Murder charges probably will be filed this afternoon or tomorrow against C.W. Franks, Earlsboro Chief of Police, in connection with the fatal shooting last night of Jim Rush, 28-year-old brother of W.A. (Shine) Rush. Fred Albert, Assistant County Attorney of Pottawatomie County told The Producer this afternoon Pottawatomie County authorities began their investigation last night, immediately after Rush fell dead with two pistol bullets in his body. Witnesses said that Franks shot him when he announced that he was going to take the officer’s “gun off him.”

Launching a $5,500 rebuilding and redecorating plan for the Oklahoma Tire and Supply Company’s store here, work on tearing down partitions started this morning. Irving Cohen, store manager, said that the entire store would be changed with it taking in the room formerly occupied by a radio station. The remodeling will include an air-conditioned business office for the use of customers.

Seminole voters will go to the polls – apparently in small number – today to nominate a Ward Four councilman and a street commissioner. In the only city wide vote, Joe Altman opposes A. J. Agnew for the Street Commissioner nomination. Lloyd Brown meets Ike Cline for the Fourth Ward Councilman nomination.

A countywide meeting of the American Legion at Maud tonight, preceded by a dinner of the Past Commanders Club, is expected to draw an attendance of 300 Legionnaires and Auxiliary members from all parts of the county.

Another dust storm moved eastward across northern Oklahoma from the panhandle today, as swollen streams in the southeastern section receded and citizens began repairing damage caused by hail and windstorms. Four persons were dead. Two from drowning as a result of sharp electrical storms and heavy rains that fell in the state beginning Friday night.
