OU football standout Lucious Selmon signed autographs, basketball queen Tricia Colclazier had a beautiful smile, and Seminole destroyed Bristow, 70-52 as the 1973 SHS Homecoming was a smashing success in Chieftain Fieldhouse Friday.
And there were some 1,200 fans who witnessed the treat of a perfect Seminole homecoming. From the crowning kiss, to the Chieftainette Drill Team performance and down to the junior varsity Braves’ onepoint victory over Bristow’s JV, 49-48, the homecoming clock ticked to perfection.
Selmon, 6-2, 224-pound Oklahoma University guard, and Sonner Assistant Coach Wayne Harper attended the contest. They were reported to be in Seminole on a recruiting trip.
Oklahoma, according to sources, is trying to lure John Randolph and Chez Evans, two Seminole seniors, to play football at OU nest year. Randolph and Evans, who are also members of the Chieftain basketball team, told reporters they have not decided on what university they will attend.
SHS Coach Boyd Linduff started a senior quintet and Seminole’s eighth victory of the season became almost a certainty within a few minutes of the second half. The Chiefs are now 8-9 in season play and 6-5 in the conference. Bristow dropped to 3-15.

Devore made his mark inside when he rebounded several Seminole miscues and vaulted back for four close range baskets. It was Devore’s closing two baskets in the quarter that rocketed the Chiefs to a 10-point gap.
Randolph, Evans, Chris Clark, Kenny Brooking, Devore and Woodrow Island saw action in the first half, and rolled up a 38-27 bulge. Bristow had cut the Chieftain gap to five with 6:17 until intermission, but back-to-back baskets by Clark and Randolph along with a corner shot by Island paced Seminole to a 32-22 lead at 3:04 left in the half.
Randolph led the Seminole attack for the night with 28 points and Devore and he grabbed 11 rebounds each to lead in that department. Clark followed Randolph with 14 points.
Evans nailed eight points for Seminole, Brooking and Island jabbed four and Rickey Young sank two.

Seminole hit 31 of 64 field shots for 49 percent accuracy and nailed eight of 12 free tosses for 49 percent. Bristow made 24 of 60 shots for 40 percent and 4 of 6 free shots for 66 percent.
The third period saw Seminole mount its most impressive assault. With Randolph cashing in on two field goals and four of six free shots Seminole scampered to a 54-37 lead.
Randolph sank a field goal to open the fourth quarter then Bristow’s Steve Jackson hit a fielder to make the score 56-39 with 6:36 left in the game. At the point Seminole iced the victory with deadly gunnery.
Randolph nailed two field goals. Island sank one and Clark rimmed two as Seminole leaped to a 64-41 lead before Bristow could muster another basket.
Young hit a basket with 1:58 left and then Bristow’s Charlie Womack and Lindy Poston hit and two baskets respectively to finish the contest, Seminole winning 70-52.
The Chieftains also made a big hit in the rebounding department by outclassing the Pirates 40-29.

His selection was announced Wednesday by Oilers owner A. Ray Smith.
Paige missed the press conference because of illness, but obliged autograph seekers who accompanied Oilers promotions director Len Morton to the clinic where the ailing pitcher was being treated for the flu.
“My body is just worn out,” Paige told a fan. “Just think of it,” he said. “I’ve been on the road for more than 50 years, and never had an accident. It would be nice to settle down somewhere. But I’ve got to be in New Hampshire and Boston next week for dinners.”
Paige will be a first base coach for the Oilers and will help with the club’s public relations program.
