A 1962 Chevrolet automobile belonging to Pearl Porter of Wewoka and reported stolen Tuesday morning in Wewoka was recovered about 7 p.m. Tuesday on Interstate 40 near the Dale exit. The Sheriff’s office said the car had been abandoned on the on the shoulder of the highway, and was found by the highway patrol.

The First National Bank of Seminole was the successful and low bidder Tuesday night in the sale of $17,500 in transportation equipment bonds by the Varnum Board of Education at the Varnum high school, Don Savage, board presi dent, announced.

Savage said the city bank’s bid was for 4 per cent interest with a $5 premium allowance. Proceeds from the bond sale will be used by the Varnum district to purchase two new school buses.

The Citizens State Bank of Maud was the other bidder on the bonds with an interest rate of 4.25 per cent.

“We were well pleased with the low bid offered by First National, and it was much better than we expected. It pleased the board members as well as myself that two area banks would be interested in purchasing the Varnum school district bonds,” said Savage.

Seminole high school’s varsity Braves used a balanced attack and an alert defense to whip the Holdenville Wolverine “B” squad, 30-6, Monday night at Holdenville’s Wolverine stadium.

The victory was the Braves’ second of the season as they continue undefeated under Coaches Jim Glasco and Fred Jones. In their first game, two weeks ago, the Braves downed Cushing, 14-6.
