Maud Rotarians enjoying a visit from District Governor Paul F. Floyd and Mrs. Floyd of Ada earlier this week… Edwin L. Stone, president of the Maud club, saying he was pleased with the turn out… County Fair manager Warren Jones reporting a large crowd attending Tuesday night… The Quarter Horse and Cutting Horse event tonight in the fairgrounds indoor arena is expected to draw a capacity audience, he said this morning…
Bob Gaines residing nine miles northwest of Wewoka, reported to the sheriff’s office that two saddles and two bridles valued at $175 have been stolen from a storeroom on his place during the past week.
The sheriff’s office also said that burglars who entered the Foster Hardware at Konawa this past weekend apparently were scared off and left their loot.
Three gun taken from a rack inside the store were found outside the building where they had been dropped, an investigating officer said. Entrance to the store was gained by breaking a rear window.
Den 1 of Cub Scout Pack 458 of Bowlegs met Monday with the den mother, Mrs. Gillis Moody. Twelve members were present.
Rodney Jones directed the flag salutation. Rob Moody was refreshments host.
Boys raised the flag the past Friday night at the Bowlegs high school football game. During the Monday meeting, they worked on model airplanes.
Besides Rodney and Rob, members were Ricky Carter, Craig DeArmond, Jack Gibson Jr., Timmy Moore, Steven Robertson, Randy Smith, Ricky Smith, Paul Stephens, William Stafford and Doyle Barlow.
Seminole’s junior varsity Braves exploded for two touchdowns Monday night as they defeated Cushing’s junior varsity Tigers 14-6 in a season-opening contest played at Cushing.
The Braves, under Coach Jim Glasco, stand 1-0 in season play with the win. Their next game will be on September 27 when they travel to Holdenville.
