Sheriff W. C. Merryfield said this morning that his office hasn’t found any trace so far of some nine guns of various sizes which were stolen this past weekend from the home of Leon Prince, approximately 4.5 miles north of Seminole. Many of the weapons were equipped with scopes.

The guns taken included a 12-gauge Remington automatic shotgun, three Remington automatic Sportsman 20-gauge shotguns, 16-gauge Remington shotgun, Winchester 308 caliber Savage model rifle, Winchester .22 single shot rifle, and a 7-mm Remington rifle.

Sheriff Merryfield said that police and sheriff’s offices throughout the state have been alerted to help in a search for these guns.

Den 1 of Cub Scout Pack 458 of Bowlegs met at Bowlegs Assembly of God church with the den mother, Mrs. Gillis Moody. Eleven members were present.

Timmy Moore led the flag salute. Doyle Barlow was refreshment host. A new member welcomed was Steven Robertson. William Stafford was elected denner and Timmy Moore, his assistant.

Other cubs present were Rob Moody, Rodney Jones, Craig DeArmand, Randy Smith, Jeffrey Cavett, Ricky Smith, Ricky Carter, and Jack Gibson Jr.

Seminole will have a host of returning starters in their starting lineup Friday night giving them plenty of experience when they face the Cushing Tigers it was learned today when Chieftain head Coach Jim Webb released his starting roster for the season opening tilt.

Eight seniors and three juniors comprise the offensive team and likewise seven seniors and four juniors fill the defensive starting list the roster showed.

There are 10 returning Chieftain offensive starters back from last year’s 6-4 season and seven defensive veterans who have received the starting nod from Coach Jim Webb.
