Municipal Judge William C. Wantland announcing Wednesday that all fines assessed in Municipal Court will now be paid at the municipal court clerk’s office in the Municipal Building… Previously these fines had been collected at the police station… Maxine Green telling some interesting stories about area people, especially some of her customers… County Assessor Paul Mathews back on the job again after being sidelined by a recent illness…

The Fourth Annual Seminole Nation Day will be held here Saturday, September 4, under the sponsorship of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma, and hosted by the Seminole Chamber of Commerce.

Main events for the day will be held in the Seminole Municipal Auditorium, Tribal Chief Terry Walker of Seminole will serve as chairman for the gathering.

This celebration was started in Seminole four years ago, and the three principal cities of the county – Seminole, Wewoka, and Konawa – take turns hosting the event. Last year was Wewoka’s turn and the year before it was held at Konawa.

The officers and employees of the First national Bank of Seminole will host all administrators, faculty members, employees and board members of the Seminole city schools at a dinner tonight at 7 at the Harvest House restaurant.

Clarence Clark, vice president of the bank, said tonight’s dinner is to express the bank’s appreciation to the school personnel of our city for the fine job they are doing. Clark will serve as emcee for the dinner.

A student group from Oklahoma State University at Stillwater will provide musical entertainment for the dinner. Clark said there would be no featured speaker.

Gilbert Young, president of the Seminole Tiny Chief Quarterback Club, reminded al club members that they should attend tonight’s club meeting at 7:30 in the OG&E Operations Building, Highway 9 East and North Ideal.

The meeting is for all members of the club plus all parents whose boys are involved in the Tiny Chief program this year.

Officers for the new year will be elected at tonight’s meeting.
