Noontime temperature in Seminole today was 84 degrees after a low Monday night of 65, the local station of the National Weather Service reported. High reading Monday was 91 degrees.

The State Election Board ordered a special election Monday to be held here on Tuesday, August 3, for the voters of the Seminole school district to decide on the creation of a separate junior college district out of the school district.

The Oklahoma Corporation Commission today set Oklahoma’s oil allowable at an estimated production of 615,000 barrels daily for August and September.

The railroad strike talks remained in a state of collapse today as the government tried to find a legislative way to end the shutdown. But there was good news from two other strike fronts.

Apollo 15’s astronauts were ordered to run a special test on their main engine today to see if a control system short circuit is serious enough to scrub a moon landing Friday.

City police today were checking out possible leads in the burglary of the Seminole Laundry-Cleaners at 119 West Broadway, which occurred over the weekend and was discovered Monday morning.
