Many Oil Boom Pioneers are expected to be in Seminole Friday, July 16, as the Seminole Chamber of Commerce, working with the Seminole Historical Society and the Seminole Chapter of the American Petroleum Institute, sponsor a 45 th Oil Boom Anniversary celebration.

The high temperature in Seminole Saturday was 98 degrees after a low Friday night of 75, the local station of the National Weather Service reported. At 5 p.m. Saturday it was 95 degrees, and the high reading Friday was 97.

The city of Seminole is leading the county in 18-21 registrations, according to County Election Board Secretary Ruby Hurley. But, as she went on to say, “that’s nothing to brag about.”

Fourteen Seminole countians will be among those receiving degrees at the July 30 commencement exercises held at the close of the summer session of East Central State College at Ada. The exercises will be held at 10 a.m. in the Science Hall auditorium.

The Senior Peewee League (9-10-year-olds) baseball playoffs will begin Monday night on Legion diamond No. 2 Delbert Aldridge, league commissioner, announced Saturday.

Seminole area parents who want to learn more about children with learning disabilities have been extended a special invitation to attend a parents’ conference and hear a nationally known leader at Oklahoma City’s Mummers Theater on Tuesday, July 13.
