Eighteen-year-olds now have the right to vote and hold county and city offices but they cannot buy liquor, obtain a chauffeur’s license or serve on grand juries or petit juries. An Oklahoma Legislative Council study showed today that 18-year-olds who are registered to vote now have the right to sign and circulate initiative petitions because they are “qualified voters” as the law requires of such signers and circulators.
Seminole city council adopted a previously studied budget for fiscal 1971-72 of $736,403.00 and added a $20,000.00 ambulance subsidy contract to establish a budget of $756, 403.00 for the twelve months beginning July 1.
For the first time this year the official high temperature in Seminole hit 100 degrees Tuesday, the National Weather Service reported. At noon today the reading was 93 degrees after a low Tuesday night of 72. The high Tuesday was reached about 3 p.m., the local weather station reported.
