The transfer of a set of keys from one person’s hand into the hand of another marked a dream come true for Seminole Junior College officials and supporters Tuesday morning.

The three Soviet cosmonauts who set an endurance record for space flights died mysteriously today on their return to earth, the Soviet news agency Tass reported.

At noontime today in Seminole the temperature was 86 degrees after a low Tuesday night of 71, the National Weather Service’s local weather station reported. High reading Tuesday was 89 degrees, and rainfall totaling .35 inch was recorded Tuesday afternoon.

The Supreme Court announced it would convene a public session at 2:30 p.m. today presumably to hand down a ruling in the freedom of press dispute over publication of secret Pentagon papers on the Vietnam War.

The court did not explicitly say that the session would be for the ruling but the case was the only major unfinished business on the docket.

A poll of 260 Central State University students indicates most believe the government has the right to keep “secret” facts out of newspapers.

The Seminole Lions swatted the Earlsboro Lions 7-5 in an eight inning Midget League contest played Monday night at Legion field No. 1. Mark Bell hit a homerun with a runner on base to give the Seminole team their victory.
