With the Fourth of July holiday approaching and firecracker enthusiasts stocking up to celebrate the holiday, city police and firemen are reminding city residents about the laws covering the exploding of fireworks in the city limits and some of the safety rules that should be followed.

It was 96 degrees for the high reading in Seminole Saturday after a Friday night low of 71, the National Weather Service’s local station reported. At 5 p.m. Saturday, it was 94 degrees. High reading Friday was 97 degrees.

Tuesday morning at 9 o’clock in a simple ceremony to be held at the Seminole Junior College campus at the northwest corner of State Highway 9 and Highway 3, the newly completed building representing the first phase of the Seminole Junior College complex will be turned over to the college board of trustees by the contractor, Bill Hughes Construction Co. of Edmond, contractor for the project.

The 1971 Oklahoma wheat harvest, crippled by a severe drought, appears to have fallen below the 60-million-bushel mark.

The state-federal crop reporting service said that would make it the lowest harvest for Oklahoma since 1957.

The second place Seminole Chieftains will play first place Chandler in what is expected to be a real nip-and-tuck Shawnee YMCA Summer League basketball game at Shawnee high field-house Monday night. The game is set for 8:30 p.m.
