A Seminole resident who had business in Wewoka this morning reported that he found the second floor of the courthouse deserted except for two people… At 10 minutes to 10 a.m. he found one clerk in the court clerk’s office and one in the extension service office…All of the others he learned were either out at the Wewoka golf course or having a coffee break…He said the first floor seemed to be well-manned…T.J. Plummer getting “politicized” on what it takes to solve our problems…Cecil Neely providing home-grown peaches for a “peach-party” by Canadian Valley Electric headquarters’ employees… Sheriff Bill Merryfield and wife, June, returning from a vacation in New Mexico where they visited daughter, Ann Anderson and family…

President Elmer Tanner of Seminole Junior College announced today that diploma covers are now available at the college for all 1970-71 Seminole college graduates wanting one for their diploma. Individuals should stop by the college and pick up the cover Tanner said.

The first well drilled to provide a water supply for the recently former Bowlegs-Lima Water District Inc. was completed this past weekend on the P.B. Soule place near Bowlegs, Bedford Brewer of Bowlegs, president of the board of directors of the district said this morning.

Oklahoma’s first “job Fair” for Vietnam veterans will mean jobs for about 1,200 returning servicemen, a former national commander of the American Legion said today.

President Nixon was headed for a sentimental journey to America’s Heartland today to honor his mother and perhaps to sew political seeds with students, educators, and old folks.

The temperature at noon today in Seminole was 90 degrees after a low Wednesday night of 71, the local weather station of the National Weather Service reported. High temperature Wednesday was 94 degrees.

The Seminole Chieftains will play the Shawnee “Whites” in a Summer League YMCA basketball game tonight at 7:15 in the Shawnee high school gym. The general public is invited to attend the game.
