Nathan Grandstaff, 6-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Kagle Grandstaff of 316 ‘E’ street, was bitten on his foot by what is believed to have been a young copperhead snake while playing in Maguire Park on East Strothers about 2 p.m. Friday. His mother told the Producer that she thought at first it was a scorpion sting.
She contacted her family doctor, and he advised some temporary treatment she said, and asked her to bring the young boy to the clinic for further examination Saturday morning.
Two rare mountain gorillas tied the knot Saturday in civil ceremonies at the Oklahoma City zoo with the blessings of 200 human friends who stopped by to help celebrate their unity.
Josephine, a 278-pound female on permanent loan from the Tel Aviv, Israel Zoo, and her mate M’Kubwa, of Oklahoma City, will have to wait some time, however, before they will be permitted to set up housekeeping. Zoo officials hope they will produce the first mountain gorilla to be born in captivity.
A handwritten note and a dollar bill were tacked on the side of City Hall near a bus stop.
“Junior,” the note said. “I can’t wait any longer. Here is your bus fare.” It was signed, “Mother.”
Hundreds of people passed the note Friday, but nobody took the money. Television cameras filmed it and the Baltimore News American wrote a story about it.

Seminole Arts and Crafts program will begin Tuesday in M&M building on Randolph drive. All children whose ages range from five to 12 years are invited to take part.
Brenda Scott, a former Seminole high school graduate and now a sophomore at East Central State College, will be the swimming instructor for the summer swimming program which begins Monday at the Seminole Municipal Swimming Pool. The program is for beginners and non-swimmers.
