Highway Patrol Trooper Sam Laffoon of Seminole reminding all motorists to drive carefully over the Memorial Day weekend… Audrey Roberts wanting to know how old a bottle found in her pasture was… The bottle was made by the Seminole Bottling company and the name of the drink was “People’s Big Drink,”… High school Principal Henry Kimmel was enjoying a baseball game Thursday night at Oiler Park…The Producer Sports Department now has plenty of baseball report forms for coaches of the Seminole summer baseball teams who are needing them…Coaches may pick up the forms at the Producer Sports Desk…Leonard Saffa lending assistance to an elderly woman and she was grateful…

Area motorists planning to travel Seminole county and state roadways this weekend, are asked by the highway patrol to keep in mind their best driving habits. The Memorial Holiday weekend begins at 6 p.m. today and ends at midnight Monday.

Four Seminole golfers will be among several other state and area golfers who will be playing in the 11 th Annual Shawnee Invitational Golf Tournament which starts Saturday at the Shawnee Elks Club Course.

The four golfers from Seminole who will be playing in the tournament, which will feature more than 140 linksmen from Oklahoma, Texas, and Kansas, are Leon Hager, Claude Thomas, Ronny Hargus, and Cleve Beasley.

Representative David Boren said today that the house on Thursday approved a bill which would permit community junior colleges to issue revenue bonds for the purpose of building cafetoriums or student centers. The bonds would have to be approved first by the board of regents for higher education.

The Seminole county solon pointed out that the bill does not allow such bonds to be used for building dormitories. The bill now goes to the senate where action is expected next week.

Monday will be observed by city, county, state, and federal offices as a business holiday—Memorial Day—and most Seminole business firms and offices also will be closed Monday, the Chamber of Commerce said this morning.

Gary Stone, active Strother High school 4-H member for nine years, was elected State 4-H President Wednesday afternoon during the 50 th annual 4-H Roundup in Stillwater.

A recipient of many awards and honors, Stone contributes much of his success to his work in 4-H. “I feel 4-H has made me the man I am today. It has brought me so much happiness, pride, and a sense of accomplishment. 4-H has also brought me maturity, honor, and a very high sense of values,” Stone said.
