Liquor and insurance revenue bills expected to produce $17 million the first year and $6 million the first year and $6 million annually thereafter won senate approval Monday.

Both bills now go to the house. The liquor bill already has been approved by the house, but must return for concurrence in a technical change in the language.

The liquor bill boosts the liquor tax from $2.40 to $4 a gallon.

District Judge Robert Simms of Tulsa said today there is no basis for stating the Mafia controlled defunct Community National Insurance Co. of Tulsa.

Simms appeared before a senate committee investigating State Insurance Commissioner Joe B. Hunt. Hunt had said earlier that Eastern businessmen with Mafia connections had bought insurance policies from the company.

Employment for March showed an 1,100 increase over a year ago, but unemployment went up by 8,100 in the same period, the Oklahoma State Employment Service reported today.

While more workers held jobs the labor force—those seeking jobs—increased at a faster rate than job openings, the agency said.

The Gordon Cooper Area Vocational-Technical school will offer four adult courses during the month of June. These include Custodial Training, Nurses Aide, Powder Puff Auto Mechanics (ladies only) and Secretarial Procedures.
