Spring came in like a lion this year, not doing much for greenery or girl watchers.

Now, some two months later, the sap has risen in the trees and hot pants are vying with miniskirts as attention getters.

Supporters of maintaining the Strother school as a separate school district and rebuilding the buildings destroyed by fire earlier this year have taken issue with some statements made recently by backers of a petition to call an election to annex the district to the Varnum district and make one large district of the two.

Through their public relations committee composed of Donald Green, chairman, and Mrs. Harry E. Coates and Mrs. Leon Inman, members, have issued a public statement concerning their views and the withdrawal of the petition which was announced earlier this week.

A John Deere 140 tractor stolen from a John Deere Locke Implement company in Eldorado, Kansas, and a large quantity of mechanic tools valued at $1,000 taken from several businesses in the Eldorado area were recovered near Bowlegs Friday by the Seminole County Sheriff’s office working in cooperation with the Butner County Sheriff’s office of Kansas.

Seminole Junior College has been notified by the Office of Education that two grants of money have been approved and assigned to the college for use during the first semester of next year’s school term, President Elmer Tanner has announced.
