A tornado streaked across Seminole county over an area from three to five miles northwest of Seminole between 8:30 and 9 p.m. Monday, turning a mobile home upside down and injuring six people, tearing down trees wrecking two hay barns, and also causing heavy damage to barns and buildings at the Mullendore Dairy Farm.

Damages at the dairy farm alone were estimated at $50,000 and the other area damage at $15,000, bringing the total to $65,000 plus.

The twister first hit the mobile home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Haight, which is located three miles north of the US 270 and Highway 9 intersection on Highway 3 and a mile and a half northwest of the Jarvis Assembly of God church.

The Haights and their four grandchildren, Dean Parks, 9, Patricia Parks, 8, Pam Parks, 4, and Duke Parks, 3, were all inside the trailer or mobile home when the twister hit. The house was lifted off of its frame and underpinning, and turned upside on top of a utility house located in the rear, and also thrown against a pickup truck and a tractor nearby.
