After competing in the regional speech and debate tournament held at Oklahoma College of Liberal Arts in Chickasha this past weekend, one Seminole high school debate team and five speech students qualified for competition in the state tournament to be held in Stillwater at Oklahoma State University beginning Friday morning.
The individual event qualifiers, were: Marilyn Moran, first place in women’s extemporaneous speaking; Paula Ihle, second place in women’s extemporaneous speaking; Neal Martin,
second place in men’s extemporaneous speaking; Jan Poplin, third place in men’s original oratory; and Anthony Allen, fourth place in men’s extemporaneous speaking. The debate team qualifying for state competition was the team composed of Paula Ihle and Marilyn Moran.
Airman Jay W. Aldridge, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ellis D. Aldridge, route three, Konawa, has completed basic training at Lackland AFB, Texas.
He has been assigned to Keesler AFB, Mississippi, for training in Communications Electronics systems. Airman Aldridge, a 1969 graduate of Bowlegs, attended East Central college in Ada.

Junior-Senior Division Champs—Tom Belshe and his son Jerry show won the first place trophy which they won for having the best catch of fish in the Junior-Senior Division of the Oklahoma Sport Fishing Tournament preliminary round held on Sportsman Lake Sunday.
The Seminole Golf Association will hold their tee-off meeting for the new golf season at 7:30 p.m. in the Corral Room of the Grisso Hotel, James Myers, association president, announced.
Business at the meeting according to Myers will be the election of officers for the upcoming year. A film on playing golf also will be shown, Myers said.
“This if the first meeting of the season and I urge all members to attend this important meeting,” Myers said. “We need everyone present for the election of officers and to plan our business and to plan our business for the upcoming year.”
