Seminole county farmers were reminded Saturday by James T. Spurlock, executive-director, Seminole County ASCS, that the last day to sign up in the wheat, feed grain and cotton programs is next Friday, April 9. Spurlock said, “If you plan to participate in any of these programs this year, you need to come by the ASCS office in Wewoka by next Friday.”
Members of the Seminole Roundup Club are reminded of a general meeting Monday at 7:30 p.m. at Pat’s Café, Johnnie Roberts, president of the group, said Saturday.
All members are urged to attend because business concerning this year’s rodeo and other items will be discussed, Roberts added.

Funds to hire a professional juvenile probation officer for Seminole County will be discussed at the Tuesday, April 6, meeting of the Oklahoma Crime Commission at the State Capitol in Oklahoma City.
The commission has been requested to make available $16,-225. If approved, the funds would be used to hire a probation officer who would handle a full caseload and supervise volunteers who would work with problem youth in county.
City Firemen were called to two grass fires Friday afternoon and evening. The first was to the new Seminole Junior College site at Highway 9 and US 270 where a burn-off of the area got out of control. Only damage was the burned grass. The second run was to the Fay Friend place at 2100 Smith street. Only a small area of grass was burned over before the fire was doused.

Chuck McCullough and family from Gardner, Kan., were visiting Seminole this past week. They were flying a Cessna 140.
Roy Egin from Shawnee visited the local airport Friday. He was flying a Champion Catabra.
Jerry Howell flew to Mena, Ark., in the Cherokee 180 for a weekend visit.
Phillip Parks used the Cessna 150 for some aerial photography last Sunday.
Another new student pilot this past week is Dannie Canfield. He started his lessons Friday in the Cessna 150.
Curtis Wright made a flight to Ada and Atoka in his Aeronca Champ on Friday.
Don Hall from Holdenville visited the local airport last Tuesday in his Piper Pawnee.
