The Files of The Seminole Producer

Posted in:

April 2, 1971

A Seminole city girl, Kayla Keaton, is one of eight contestants who will be on the Seminole high school auditorium stage April 10, trying for the Miss Seminole 1071 title. Miss Oklahoma, Judy Adams, and Miss Seminole 1970, Sandra McClure, will be two special guests of the pageant.

Miss Keaton is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Keaton, 225 North University.

She is a freshman this year at Seminole Junior College where she is majoring in psychology and sociology. She hopes to become a high school or Junior College teacher upon graduation from college. She is a high school graduate of Seminole high school. Miss Keaton is attending Seminole Junior College this year on a partial scholarship.

Chief of Police Kenneth Higdon said this morning that a representative of the State Crime Bureau is working with city police in tracing the origin of two bomb-threat telephone calls which were received at Roosevelt-Central Elementary Schools Thursday.

Police checked out both buildings but could find no trace of any bombs, Higdon said. “We also plan to ask the FBI to assist us on this probe. We feel that there also is a violation of a federal law involvement in such a threat,” the chief added.

Although Thursday was April Fools Day, police do not think this was just a mere “April Fool” prank.
