Seminole residents decided Wednesday to organize a local historical society and named a steering commit tee to set up the organization and to plan a general membership meeting. Named chairman of the steering committee was Mrs. John B. Townes. Austin Rice of Maud was named vice chairman and B.E. Himes was named secretary-treasurer.

Named to the steering committee, in addition to the officers, were Charlie Reynolds, Jerry Fox, Fred Adwan, Janie Adair, Ted Phillips, Frank Killingsworth, C.R. Johns, Lonnie Howze, W.H. Hough, Frank Seay, Herman Sullivan and Lissa Bush.

Wednesday city police were hunting for clues to vandals who damaged several trucks at the Wills Redy Mixed Concrete Inc. plant at Timmons and Osage. Investigating officers said the incident occurred Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning.

Seminole Municipal hospital auxiliary will meet general session at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the hospital lounge, Wanetta McCullough, president, announced today. Two new auxillians, Bonnie Adams and Dixie Felton will be welcomed into membership.

Speakers will be Mr. Byron Stackhouse, hospital administrator, and Coleen Sebourn, superintendent of nurses. A report will be made on the collective number of hours the auxiliary has been on duty during the first quarter and business matters will be carried out.

Wewoka’s new ambulance service goes into effect today, it was announced in Wewoka yesterday. The new ambulance was purchased by the City of Wewoka and is operated by city firemen. Assuming of the ambulance service by the city culminates eight months of planning, the announcement said.

A petition protesting the trail and conviction of Lt. William Calley is being circulated at Seminole Junior College by the College Veterans of Foreign War Club. The petition will be sent to President Richard Nixon when a sufficient number of names are received a spokesman for the club said.
