The Files of The Seminole Producer

Posted in:

March 31, 1971

State Representative David Boren of Seminole voted against the oil and gas tax bill on its final passage Tuesday. The metropolitan press reports that Boren was a key figure in obtaining a last – minute compromise in the bill giving additional relief to marginal wells. The state representative told The Producer this morning: “I did not agree to vote for the emergency clause of the bill until the final compromise was accepted by the governor. This will give an additional $1.5 million of relief to marginal oil wells on the total 7 per cent of the gross production tax. And this also may result in an actual reduction from the present tax of 5 per cent on some marginal wells. I feel that this compromise was very important to the economic development of Seminole county since we are a stripper well county at present.”

A local man, Neal R. “Dick” Moyer, opened a new business in Seminole Monday. Called Dick’s Color Center. Store hours are from 7:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Deloris McMillion and Anna Belle Moyer are two sales personnel at the store and both are trained color stylists.
