The Seminole county unit of the highway patrol has a new trooper assigned to it — Trooper Eldon Carr, who was transferred to Wewoka from Okemah on March 15, and started to work in midweek last week. The new member of the county unit unit replaces Trooper Ed Nix who resigned recently to return to Carnegie and take his former job with a farmers cooperative store there as manager.
Trooper Carr is a graduate of the Highway Patrol School and has been assigned to Okemah to work in Okfuskee county for the past three years. This also was his first duty station with the patrol.
Nineteen persons were fined amounts ranging from $10 to $50 on various charges in Municipal Court Wednesday by Judge William C. Wantland. Five persons forfeited bonds ranging from $35 to $50 when they failed to appear for trial, and two individuals had bench warrants issued for them when they failed to appear in court, having been released previously on their own recognizance.

The Seminole Camp Fire Girls’ Annual Dad — Daughter Banquet was held in the Seminole American Legion Building, Friday night and some 300 persons attended the event. All entertainment and decorating at the banquet was done by the Camp Fire Girls themselves.
City firemen were called to the Ray Vandiver place 41/2 miles south of Seminole Saturday afternoon to douse a grass fire. Sparks from burning trash set a patch of dead grass afire. About one-third acre was burned over.

George Foreman, Seminole dairy-man in the Prairie Valley community, will receive a framed certificate in recognition of his dairy herd’s outstanding production during 1970. Mr. Foreman’s herd is one of 62 state herds in 45 community to be so honored. Presentations will be made on Saturday, April 3, during Oklahoma State university’s 35 annual dairy research program at Stillwater.
A longtime Seminole county resident, Walter Penuel of Pleasant Grove, who has over 29 years of experience operating heavy equipment in this county as well as many foreign lands is going to Pago Pago, Samoa, next month. There he will be an instructor on heavy equipment in a technical school there operated by the Samoan government.
