Seven Grass Fire Runs Made Sunday
City firemen were kept busy Sunday with seven grass fire calls. One of the calls resulted in a vacant house at 541 “F” street being destroyed. This fire was caused by sparks from a welding torch.
A fire which started from individuals setting fire to dump ground contents resulted in a grass fire at the airport which burned over a large area but no damage to building or runways resulted.
Other fires which the firemen were called: C&S Body Shop, 905 East Broadway; J.A. Runge Plant, 500 “A” street, 306 West Russell, and Franks Corner.
SHS Nine Plays Stroud
Wednesday To Open Season
With potentially strong hitting, but with the pitching remaining a question mark, the Seminole high school Chieftains lift the lid on their 1971 baseball season against Stroud Tigers here Wednesday in a doubleheader. Game time for the first contest is 1:00 p.m. at Oiler Park. Admission is free, and the general public is invited to attend.
Veteran Coach J.B. Flatt is optimistic this season about his hitting strength, a strength so strong that it gained the Chiefs a 6-4 record last season and a District baseball championship. Bill Hayes, returns for Seminole with a hitting average of .400; Mike Russell, .366; Randy Strayhorn, .200; and Donny Trammell, .200.
Mrs. Richardson to Head Guild
St. Anne’s Guild of St. Mark’s Episcopal church covened recently in the home of Mrs. W.C. Wantland, wife of the vicar.
Officers for the coming year were elected. They are: Mrs. Don Richardson, president; Mrs. Frank Harbor Jr., secretary; Mrs. Roy Allen, treasurer; Mrs. Richard Parker, altar guild directress.
Activities for the coming year were discussed.
Attending were Madames Chester Parker, Jim Schulze, M. Murray and others already mentioned.

SHS Stage Tonight
Seminole Arts council will present the popular drama, “Harvey,” at 8 p.m. today (Tuesday) in Seminole high school auditorium, David Boren, council president, announced. The public is invited and tickets will be sold at the door.
Members of the cast include James Myers, Mrs. H.W. Shaner, Mrs. Bob Robertson, Miss Hanthorne, James Leonard, Mrs. R.G. Webster, Mrs. David Cooper, Herb Ihle, Mr. and Mrs. W.L. Wantland, Lonnie Howze and John Fogarty.
