Kenneth Hull, Seminole Junior College girls basketball coach, being happy about his girls’ win against Central State College of Edmond, Friday night in the State AAU Tournament... Lynn Dollar remarking that it won’t be long until it will be warm enough to go skiing again...College President Elmer Tanner being pleased with the way the campaign for the College’s one-cent sales tax is going...Bob Walker reminding all county girls that by Monday at noon all entries for the Miss Seminole Pageant must be in... Delsa and Lewis Johnson of Bowlegs contributing 731 Betty Crocker coupons to the worthwhile kidney machine project...Blake and Vera Jo Woolbright sending picture postcards and greetings from Rome, Italy...

Doing Their Part in helping with the Seminole Junior College campaign for the passing of a one-cent sales tax for Seminole Junior College are two college co-eds Brenda Jones and Mart Lou Miller. Students of the college were placing signs in yards throughout the city Saturday. The election for the sales tax will be held March 23.

SHS Golfer—Larry Wright, is one of the Seminole high school golf team members for this season. As a junior, Wright led last year’s team in scoring. He is expected to anchor down this years’s team.

Tree Planters—Doing their part to help keep the balance of nature are Seminole high school biology students Debbie Fleming, Mary Parker, and Victor Fleming. They are in the process of planting a a Red Bud tree. Students of the Seminole high school biology class, under the direction of instructor Jim Drake, spent most of Saturday planting some 500 Red Bud trees at the St. Crispin’s Lodge, located east of Seminole on Highway 9, as a class project.

Varnum Queen with her crown and roses is the 1970-71 Activities Queen of Vamum high school, Miss Jeanette Nicholson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Nicholson, of Varnum. Miss Nicholson was crowned as Activities Queen in a colorful ceremony held in the Vamum high gym recently. Bill Dunagan, 12th grade president and son of Mr. and Mrs. Seeburn Dunagan, did the crowning. Runner-up in the Queen contest was Ella Courtney.

Cub Scout News

Dens 3 and 9, Cub Scouts met Thursday evening at the Church of God. Boys finished their birdhouse project and worked on Wolf badge achievements. Donald Rippee was refreshment host.

Present besides Donald were Lary mauk, Tommy Tipton, David Johnson, Doyle Johnson, Brian Jacobson, Freddy Davis, Steven Griffith, Rusty Hewes and the den mothers, Mrs. Bob Griffith and Mrs. Claude Thomas.

One of the Miss Seminole contestants who will participate in the Annual Miss Seminole Pageant on April 10 in Seminole High School auditorium, will be Miss Emily Kistler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hayle T. Kistler of 1409 State Street, here in Seminole.
