Plea for Funds to Aid College
Seminole Junior College President Elmer Tanner presents to the city council at its Tuesday night session the urgent need the college has for a stabilized source of funds until such time as it becomes a part of the state system of higher education and funded by the state. Backing Tanner’s plea for a one-cent sales tax earmarked for use by the college was Dr. Hubert L. Callaway, president of the college board of trustees, and Dickie Dollar, president of the SJC student senate. The council voted to call an election on the one-cent proposal on March 23.
