Producer Gets First Load Of Newsprint By Barge

Seminole City and county received its initiation by commercial barge traffic from the Arkansas-Verdigris waterway Wednesday afternoon when a truck loaded with 20.61 tons of news print for the Seminole Daily Producer newspaper unloaded its shipment in the Producer warehouse. The truck had come directly from the Port of Catoosa where the shipment of newsprint had been delivered there by cargo barge.

Rural Phone Users Can Now Dial Long Distance Calls

Direct Distance Dialing went into operation this morning for Seminole suburban four-party and rural eight – party telegraph users. One – and two – party telephone customers have been able to dial direct for some time.

This means that all Seminole residents can now dial their own station-to-station Long Distance calls to thousands of cities and to millions of phones throughout the United States and Canada.

Cub Scout News

Den 4 of Cub Scout Pack 439 met with the den mothers, Mrs. Bill Weems and Mrs. Warren Schroeder.

Boys completed place cards for the banquet. Kirk Merrell worked on the centerpiece. Boys played games under the leadership of Phillip Scott, den chief.

Present were Kirk Merrell, Terry Fox, Jimmy Drake, Rocky Weems, Fred Schroeder, Loddie Alspach and Keith Howard. Kirk Merrell will be refreshment host, March 3.

Miss McBride Is Hostess Baptist women of Ideal Street Baptist church gathered Tuesday afternoon in the home of Miss Pearl McBride. To begin the program, Mrs. H.D. Owen read the prayer calendar after which Mrs. D.C. Neal voiced the opening prayer.

Discussion pertained to the upcoming home mission program to be observed March 7-14 Mrs. W.C. Owens was welcomed as a new member.

Miss McBride taught the Bible study from Luke, the story of the Good Samaritan. Closing prayer was by Mrs. H.D. Owen.

Assisted by Mrs. Neal, Miss McBride served refreshments to all those named and Mrs. Bud Schutte, Mrs. Ed Walker, Mrs. D.G. Kelley, Mrs. Carl Harris and Mrs. W.V. Lewis.

Wolf School Sets Benefit Cage Play

Two grade benefit basketball games with be held in the Wolf grade school gym Friday night, it was announced by Wolf Principal Clyde Nail, Wednesday. Proceeds of the two games will go to the Oklahoma Heart Fund and the Oklahoma Red Cross.
