L.C. and Edna Gourley while en route from their home in Seminole to Iowa fighting a Kansas blizzard 14 hours, spending the night in the armory at Wichita, Kansas… They also shared a skimpy breakfast with 75 other blizzard victims… Frank Willis’ Holdenville son receiving an honor certificate for having been Hughes county’s first four gallon blood donor… The Red Cross bloodmobile made a recent visit there… The city couple’s son is named Robert Willis…
Thirteen girls and eleven boys have organized to form a Medical Explorers’ post. The group was organized by Don Wood of Shawnee, district scout executive.
The program is open to both boys and girls of high school age whose interest points toward various careers in Medicine.
Gene Sams, Seminole Municipal hospital laboratory technician, is post advisor and tonight’s program at the hospital will be on the subject of Nursing.
After the first organizational meeting, the second featured a tour of the local hospital directed by Sams. At the third meeting, the following officers were elected: David Parrish, president; Ginger Graham, vice-president; Mark Northcott, secretary; and Tommy Thomas, treasurer.
Next week’s program will be an explanatory lecture and demonstration about the hospital laboratory. Members will be allowed to type their own blood and perform other simple tests.
A field trip is planned for Wednesday, March 10, when members will travel to Oklahoma City to participate in Medical Career Day activities there, Wood said.
Mrs. Ivan G. Potts, city music instructor, served as chairman of Stillman-Kelley scholarship auditions Friday at a Norman television studio. Music students from over the state were contestants.
First place winner was Amy Sue Lazano of Fort Sill and Mary D. Staniszewski of Stillwater, second place. Judges were all from the University of Oklahoma at Norman.
The 14-year-old first place winner will now compete with 11 other winners in the Central district (composed of 12 states) for a $1,000 national scholarship for Junior members of the National Federation of Music clubs.

Priscilla Sunday school class of First Baptist church was entertained Monday evening in the home of Mrs. O. J. Green for the February meeting. Mrs. Loren Steinman was presiding officer.
Opening prayer was by Mrs. Al Givens. Mrs. Green submitted the secretarial report. Mrs. J. D. Griffin was unable to attend but sent the class ministries report.
Visits and contacts were reported and discussed by the group. Mrs. Hulett Edgmon introduced as the mystery guest, Mrs. Ralph Hall.
Taking scriptures from Romans, Mrs. Hall gave the devotional. Closing prayer was by Mrs. Gerald Smith.
Refreshments were then served by the hostess as her guests chatted informally. All present have been named.
