Two women were injured in a collision at the Highway 9 and 56 intersection east of Seminole about 9:10 a.m. Christmas Day, the highway patrol reported.
Trooper Ed NixofWewoka identified the injured women as Mrs. Merle Sanders of 539 West College, Seminole, and Mrs. Lloyd Hall of Collinsville, Oklahoma. Both are patients in Wewoka Memorial hospital and the extent of their injuries was not the patrol.
The two were passengers in cars driven by their husbands — Edward F. Sanders and Lloyd Hall.
Nix said Sanders was going east on Highway 9, and came on a car stalled in the intersection of Highway 56 and 9. He swerved to go around the stalled car. At the same time the car driven by Hall was coming south on Highway 56, ran the stop sign, and hit the Sanders’ car.
Damage to the Sanders car estimated at $400 and to the Hall car at $600 by Trooper Nix.
The county sheriff’s office reported that the post office at Sasakwa was burglarized Christmas Eve night but nothing was found to be missing, Sheriff W. C. Merryfield said. A postal inspector from Shawnee and Deputy Nolan Robinson of Konawa investigated the incident.
Sheriff Merryfield said an attempt was made to break open the post office safe but ended in failure.
Two hit and run accidents were reported to police last Wednesday and within a short period of time after the accidents the drivers of both offending cars were arrested by police.
The first accident occurred at 5:25 and a car driven py Mrs. Eula Floyd of 104 4t was sideswiped at Strother and Ideal streets. Mrs. Floyd obtained the tag of the car which hit her and left the scene, and police picked up Johnny Owens a short time afterwards at a local drive-in.
At 6:15 p.m. a car driven by Mrs. Clyde Furlow was sideswiped at East Strothers and Main. A description of the car which hit Mrs. Furlow was given police and later Roscoe Cassell of Route 1, Seminole, was arrested and charged with the offense.
Damages varied on all cars involved, police said.
