Police Pursuit Leads to Felony For Seminole Man

Posted in:

A Seminole man is facing a felony charge for allegedly leading police on a late-night pursuit through the city last week.

Christopher T. Arnold, 31, has been charged with aggravated eluding/ attempting to elude a police officer. The charges, which stem from a June 2 incident, were formally filed Monday in Seminole County District Court.

According to an affidavit, just after 10 p.m. on Monday, June 2, Lieutenant Kyle Wheeler of the Seminole Police Department was out on patrol when he observed a Scion IC headed north on Jefferson Street. Wheeler said he recognized the driver as Arnold, because he had arrested him recently for driving with a revoked driver’s license.

Wheeler said he pulled behind Arnold at the intersection of University and Strother, and when he activated his patrol lights, Arnold pulled into the Seminole Food Mart on Strother and stopped near the gas pumps. Wheeler wrote in his report that Arnold had two passengers with him, who were later identified as Kamry Hester and Jaek Reese.

Wheeler then pulled behind Arnold’s car, stepped out and began to approach the driver’s side when he saw Arnold “look to the passengers and say something.” According to the affidavit, Arnold sped off and began driving west on Strother towards Timmons. Wheeler informed Central Dispatch that the vehicle had fled and a pursuit had ensued.

Wheeler said that Arnold failed to stop at two stop signs and the pursuit continued toward the roundabout at Strother and Boren and came to end on a dead-end dirt road off Park Heights. Wheeler’s police unit was damaged in the chase, and he requested the assistance of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

During questioning, Arnold allegedly told Wheeler that he fled because he was scared over outstanding warrants and needed treatment for methamphetamine use.

Hester and Reece were both released, and Arnold was booked into the Seminole County Jail. Bond was set at $10,000 and Arnold is due back in court July 3 for a status conference.
