Local Businessmen Seek to Manage Golf Course

Posted in:

A group of local businessmen have formed a company that, if approved by the Seminole City Council, will assume management of the Jimmie Austiin Golf Course.

During its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, April 8, the council will consider a proposal from BDW Management Group, LLC to lease the course from the city for $150,000 per year. The lease agreement is for 60 months and the annual fee will be paid in monthly instalments of $12,500.

BDW Management Group is comprised of Brian Giest, financial advisor for Edward Jones; Dustin Jones, owner/operator of 737 Duck Calls and John Taylor, owner of Taylor Turf and Pest.

The course is currently managed by MM&H Property Management, which notified City Manager Steve Saxon in January that the company will not be renewing its contract when it expires at the end of June. MM&H, comprised of Tim Mathews, Curtis Morgan and Robert Hammond, had entered into a management agreement with the city in 2006.

Also on Tuesday’s agenda is consideration of a $901,891.35 bid for construction of a pre-engineered building to house the new family entertainment center. The center will be built near the Haney Center on the Seminole State College campus. Per the proposal, Alliance Steel will provide the components and Leonard Building Company will erect the building. Both companies are based in Oklahoma City.

The meeting will include a public hearing for Seminole’s 2045 Comprehensive Plan with a presentation from consultants Brannyn McDougal and Catherine Redfearn.

Tuesday’s council meeting, which is open to the public, will get underway at 7 p.m. in the Goldie Barnett Conference Room of the Seminole Public Library.
