Ken and Karen Green are lifelong residents of Seminole; Ken graduating from SHS class of 1967 and Karen moving to Seminole in 1980. For many decades, they have shared their passion for civic involvement, community outreach, and community service.
Ken has consistently showcased his dedication to improving his hometown since the 70s. He is a charter member of the Seminole Historical Society Board where he preserves and promotes local heritage. Working in the family’s propane business led Ken to be on numerous propane related committees, boards, task forces and associations, spanning from Seminole to Washington D.C.
Ken has been a lifelong member of Seminole First Baptist where he has been on several committees and helped with Falls Creek. He actively participates as a community leader, serving on the Planning Commission and Board of Adjustments for Seminole.
Ken’s love of shooting sports has led him to become an NRA rifle and shotgun instructor as well as a Boy Scout rifle instructor, so he can continue to teach today’s youth safe gun handling.
Karen shows her dedication to the community by engaging in various civic responsibilities. Her roles span across the Seminole County Election Board, Airport Advisory Board, and Leadership Seminole, along with her involvement in Master Gardening. She has enjoyed volunteering to read to students at Seminole Elementary, proctor tests at local schools, Falls Creek, along with participating in various conferences and church concerts. Karen is passionate about supporting the Friends of Scouting – Last Frontier Council and has previously served as an advisor for the Boy Scouts of America (B.S.A.). She has chaperoned many camping and float trips for the B.S.A. She finds joy in donating to the Seminole County FFA and 4-H clubs, aiding local students in achieving their goals in raising and showing farm animals.
The Greens’ enthusiasm for community service is reflected in their active involvement with numerous organizations. In honor of their late son, Kenny Green, they established an annual scholarship for a deserving senior in the Seminole High School Band. The B.S.A. Kenny Green Memorial Shoot raises money for those needing financial assistance to join scouting.
Each year, Ken and Karen sponsor two students to attend the Whittington NRA Camp in New Mexico. They belong to the Seminole Ducks Unlimited Chapter and the Seminole Chamber of Commerce.
