City Sales Tax Returns Higher For Month, Year
The August release from the Oklahoma Tax Commission (OTC) shows the City of Seminole saw an increase in tax revenue in their latest return compared to last month. The release showed this revenue was even higher compared to August last year.
The City of Seminole’s Use Tax return was lower compared to last month’s. It was also lower than last year’s return. The latest release explains the August distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from June business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The monies they reported this period represent sales from June 16th to 30th and estimated sales from July 1st to the 15th. The disbursement of $215,486,166 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected an increase of $14,960,252 from the $200,525,914 distributed to them in August last year. The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $35,209,569.
In county returns, the counties shared in a $37,859,295 sales tax disbursement and $7,365,988 in a use tax disbursement.
The CITY OF SEMINOLE has a sales and use tax rate of .04 percent, scheduled to change to .04125 in October. The city received a $655,770.92 August Sales Tax disbursement. This was $9,712.20 more than the $646,058.72 returned last month. The return was $82,073.68 more than the $573,697.24 reported last year.
The City of Seminole also receives a Use Tax, which is from purchases that are made out of state, usually from Internet sales. Seminole’s August Use Tax return of $53,394.19 was $14,269.61 less than last month’s $67,663.80. It was $8,068.22 less than last year’s $61,462.41 Use Tax return.
This month’s report shows SEMINOLE COUNTY, which has a sales tax rate of 0.0125, received a $343,126.29 sales tax disbursement for August. This was $14,970.09 more than the $328,156.20 returned last month. It was $57,777.72 more than the $285,348.57 returned last year. The Seminole County Use Tax return of $47,748.75 was $1,832.91 less than last month’s disbursement of $49,581.66. It was $8,785.5 more than the $38,963.25 returned last year.
TheAugust sales tax disbursement for the CITY OF WEWOKA of $121,853.54 was $20,355.00 more than last month’s return of $101,498.54. This disbursement was $18,486.39 more than last year’s return of $103,367.15. Wewoka has a sales and use tax rate of .0525.
The City of Wewoka’s Use Tax return was $21,483.93. This was $3,335.10 more than last month’s return of $18,148.83. It was $2,779.88 more than last year’s $18,704.05 return.
The CITY OF KONAWA received a $28,205.21 August Sales Tax disbursement. This was $12,346.15 less than the $40,551.36 returned last month, and $5,334.68 less than the $33,539.89 return last year. Konawa has a 0.04 percent sales tax.
The City of Konawa’s Use Tax return for August was $6,328.77. This was $13,637.46 less than last month’s $19,966.23 disbursement. This was $1,128.5 less than the $7,457.27 returned last year.
The CITY OF MAUD has a 0.04% sales tax and receives a tax disbursement for both Seminole and Pottawatomie Counties. The portion located in Seminole County showed a $10,501.57 return for August. This was $337.11 more than last month’s $10,083.28 return. It was $ less than last year’s $10,838.68 return.
(Maud’s Pottawatomie County sales tax disbursement was $4,700.65 this month and $7,694.18 last year). Maud’s Seminole County Use Tax return was $2,761.12. This was $171.05 more than the $2,590.07 returned last month. It was $1,888.44 more than last year’s $872.68 return.
(Maud received a Pottawatomie County use tax disbursement of $2,807.01 this month and $3,618.47 last year).
The CITY OF CROMWELL received a $4,715.45 sales tax disbursement for August. This was $591.15 more than the $4,124.30 returned last month but $272.37 less than last year’s return of $4,987.82. Cromwell has a 0.03 percent sales tax. Cromwell does not receive a Use Tax disbursement.
The CITY OF BOWLEGS received a $2,212.75 disbursement for August. This was $43.24 more than last month’s $2,169.51 disbursement. It was $340.69 less than last year’s $2,553.44 return. Bowlegs has a 0.03 percent sales tax. They do not collect a Use Tax.
TheCITYOFSASAKWA received a $2,568.94 disbursement for August. This was $544.45 less than the $3,113.39 July disbursement and $2,568.94 less than the $2,834.32 disbursement last year. Sasakwa does not collect a Use Tax.
