On April 16, three days before the 30th anniversary of the bombing of the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, Seminole High School held an assembly with the Oklahoma City National Memorial Museum.

The museum has launched a special 30th-anniversary program called the Journey of Hope. This program aims to educate the next generation about the senselessness of violence and the hope that can emerge after a day of darkness. It involves bringing the story of April 19th to schools and communities across the state, in all 77 counties.

The program consists of a roughly 55-minute assembly that introduces students to the story of the Oklahoma City bombing through high-production videos and first-person speakers. It concludes with a call to action to uphold the Oklahoma Standard. Clint Seidl, who was only seven years old at the time, shared his story with Seminole Middle School, High School and community members. Mr. Seidl lost his mother to the bombing.

Following the assembly, FFA, FCCLA students and community members planted a “Survivor Tree” sapling at the high school.
