Tecumseh Rape Suspect Collared in Seminole County

Posted in:

A Tecumseh rape suspect was arrested in Seminole County last week, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) reported Tuesday.

According to a news release, the Tecumseh Police Department requested that the OSBI investigate allegations of sexual assault. OSBI special agents began their comprehensive investigation and determined that 62-year-old Terry Alan Blankinship had sexually assaulted multiple minor victims in the 1980s, 1990s, and most recently from 2007 to 2011. These incidents occurred in Pottawatomie County.

Following an investigation, Blankinship was arrested in Seminole County on the morning of May 16 on complaints of First-Degree Rape, Rape by Instrumentation, Lewd Acts to a Minor (Under the Age of 12), and Indecent Exposure/ Obscene Material. “As this investigation continues, the OSBI believes there could be additional victims and is asking anyone with information to contact our tip line at tips@osbi. ok.gov or 1-800-522-8017,” officials stated in the news release. “The OSBI appreciates the Tecumseh Police Department, Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, and the Seminole Police Department for their assistance with this investigation.”

Blankinship was booked into the Seminole County Jail on a $500,000 bond.

According to court records, Blankinship had a permanent protective order issued against him in 1997 on behalf of four separate plaintiffs. Blankinship was one of five defendants named in the order, which was filed in Pottawatomie County.

The OSBI believes there could be additional victims and is asking anyone with information to contact their tip line at tips@osbi.ok.gov or 1-800-522-8017.
